The Premier International Club in Asia
Following the end-of-year celebrations and a 10-day holiday break, work on the new Club building resumed with gusto on January 4. As the steel erection and concrete pouring continued on the aboveground floors, finishing work began on the basement levels.
A tower crane now looms over the site, lifting steel, concrete and other heavy building materials. Final drawings, including those for the installation of a massive generator, are scheduled to be completed by the beginning of February.
“We have to complete most of the core work by the end of October,” says construction company Takenaka’s Tetsuya Miwa. “There’s a variety of rooms and variety of finishes. There’s a lot of things we have to do. We expect to be busy, busy, busy.”
As the Club’s multifaceted Member communication plan and preparations for the move to Azabudai begin to ramp up, those who visit Takanawa this month can learn more about the new facilities through an info-packed, limited-time model display in the lobby area.
