The Premier International Club in Asia
After a little more than one year of construction and just over a year to go before the new Club is completed, progress of the facility is on schedule. While construction was delayed earlier in the year by the discovery of a number of underground obstructions, the schedule is back on track with the foundations and structure of the basement levels now finished.
The first signs of the first-floor steel framework can be seen in the most recent photographs taken from Tokyo Tower, and the view from Roppongi Hills is equally impressive. As usual, photographs of the ongoing construction can be found on the Club website.
The E-shaped platform that Takenaka has been using for cranes to lower materials to the basement and lift excavated material will start to be removed in December, allowing for the upper floors to be assembled. From the beginning of 2010, it should be possible to start to see the building materialize from the ground.
The Redevelopment Project team is busy coordinating the details of construction, and preparations are now well in hand to complete the bidding for the new furniture and other key packages for the new Club interior.
On October 15, meanwhile, Mitsubishi Estate hosted a press conference to present its Azabudai Parkhouse condominium complex, which will sit adjacent to the Club. More than 20 reporters and photographers were there to hear about the Redevelopment Project and listen to local celebrity and long-time Club Member Yu Hayami talk about the benefits of being a Member.
