The Premier International Club in Asia
In his first visit to the Azabudai site since the groundbreaking ceremony last September, Club President Lance Lee spent one late May morning taking in the massive scope of changes that have unfolded since construction began in early 2008. “It’s awe-inspiring,” he says. “Look at how far the Club has come in 80 years.”
Lee toured the entire site with Redevelopment Director Alistair Gough and representatives from the Takenaka construction team, observing the myriad levels of work from the top platform and then squeezing down the narrow scaffolding stairwell to take in the view from the bottom. “I’ve never seen a construction site so clean,” he says. “Everything is so neat and organized.”
The Club president plans to revisit the site every few months to see the progress firsthand as the building project moves into its next phase. “It’s just coming together so well, and I look forward to going back over the months and giving Members updates,” he says.
